Powerful story on how a fictitious island - a former British crown colony betrayed it's independence. This has been among my favorites for the past 35 years or so. Anyone who has read Nicholas Monserrat will love this book because this story is also told in the same, kind of witty style that is unique to him. I like this book so much that, at any moment I can pick this up and read from anywhere in the story.It has all the ingredients for a bestseller including sex.
